You might not think about it, but you probably are doing things that will become common in the future. Don’t loose sight that not everyone can or will want to move at the same pace as you, be it Climate Change, Crypto or even the newest Social App.
Another way of looking at it is through history of course: The Industrial Revolution and the Age of Steam and Railways started both in the UK, the Age of Oil, Automotive and Mass Production in the US. Because of the internet the next revolution will probably not come from one place on a map, but rather through communities that have found each other over the internet.
A current example is self-driving: With Waymo you can use an App to hail a car with no driver inside to drive you somewhere. This service is available since October 2020 (roughly a year in operation now). But it’s only in an area in Phoenix, AZ. So if you want to experience the “future” in this regard, you can. You just need to get to a certain location.
I am currently thinking a lot about Crypto, NFTs, Metaverse (highly recommended read) and virtual & augmented reality – which are all connected and slowly a picture of the future is forming. Will it work out exactly like this? Probably not, but the direction is more important than to be exact. These two articles but the picture together for me:
